Kuala Lumpur is always finding new ways to surprise visitors, and its latest addition to the city’s shopping scene is definitely worth exploring. On 1 November 2026, 118 Mall officially opened its doors, bringing a new shopping, dining and lifestyle destination to the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Located at the base of the iconic Menara Merdeka Maybank, formerly known as Merdeka 118, this shopping mall is part of one of Malaysia’s most ambitious developments.
I recently visited 118 Mall to explore what this new destination has to offer. From its impressive architecture and modern interiors to its shopping outlets, food destinations and unique attractions, there is plenty to discover.
If you are planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur or simply looking for a new place to explore, here is a closer look at 118 Mall.

118 Mall Grand Opening: 1 November 2026
The opening of 118 Mall was an exciting addition to Kuala Lumpur’s shopping and lifestyle scene.
The mall officially welcomed visitors on Sunday, 1 November 2026. Its opening time was scheduled for 11:18 AM, a symbolic reference to the number 118 associated with the tower.
Situated within the Merdeka 118 precinct, the mall occupies a prime location surrounded by important landmarks, including Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara.
Unlike an ordinary shopping centre, 118 Mall aims to combine shopping, food, entertainment, architecture and Malaysian culture under one roof.
The mall has seven floors and opened with 158 operating stores, with more retailers expected to join as the mall continues to develop its full retail offering.
Where Is 118 Mall Located?
118 Mall is located at:
118 Mall, Merdeka 118 Precinct, Jalan Hang Jebat, 50118 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
One of its biggest advantages is its location beneath Menara Merdeka Maybank, one of the most recognisable additions to Kuala Lumpur’s skyline.
The tower was previously known as Merdeka 118 and is internationally recognised as the world’s second-tallest building.
The surrounding area is also historically important. Stadium Merdeka is where Malaysia’s independence was declared in 1957, making this location particularly meaningful to Malaysian history.
With shopping, heritage attractions, hotels and public transport connections nearby, 118 Mall is positioned to become more than just another shopping destination.
What Can You Find Inside 118 Mall?
One of the interesting things about 118 Mall is its combination of international brands, Malaysian businesses, dining outlets and lifestyle stores.
The mall has more than 300 retail outlets planned, although not all were operating on opening day.
Here are some of the highlights worth exploring.
1. Malaysian Artisan District
One of the most interesting sections of 118 Mall is the Malaysian Artisan District, located on Level 3.
This dedicated area celebrates Malaysian creativity, craftsmanship, fashion and local businesses.
Visitors can discover homegrown brands, locally inspired products, handicrafts and unique shopping experiences.
Some of the local names associated with this district include:
- Batik Boutique
- Bayu Somerset
- Banglo 289
- Cookiecrumbs
The idea behind this district is to give Malaysian brands an opportunity to showcase their products while introducing visitors to local creativity and culture.
If you enjoy discovering something different from the usual international retail brands, this is definitely an area worth visiting.
2. Makanizm Food Hall
Food lovers have another reason to explore 118 Mall.
Makanizm Food Hall is one of the main highlights of the Malaysian Artisan District. Covering approximately 40,000 square feet, it offers a dedicated space for food and dining.
The food selection brings together Malaysian flavours and different dining concepts.
Some of the food and beverage brands associated with the mall include:
- Oriental Kopi
- Dolly Dim Sum
- Kenny Hills Cafe
- Serai Premium
- Cili Kampung
- ZUS Coffee
- Eight Ounce Coffee
Whether you are looking for a proper meal, a quick coffee or somewhere to relax after shopping, there are different options to explore.
3. The Atmosphere: An Impressive Glass Dome
Another architectural highlight is The Atmosphere, located on Level 4.
This impressive event space covers approximately 20,000 square feet and features an 88-metre glass dome.
During the day, natural sunlight enters through the glass structure, creating a bright and open environment. In the evening, lighting transforms the space into a different visual experience.
The Atmosphere is designed to host events, exhibitions, fashion shows, festivals and other public activities.
It is also one of the architectural features that makes 118 Mall stand out from conventional shopping malls.
4. The Raincloud Attraction
Another feature worth looking out for is Raincloud, a visually interesting water installation inside the mall.
Combining flowing water and lighting effects, this attraction adds a different experience to the shopping environment.
It is the kind of installation that naturally attracts attention, especially from visitors who enjoy photography and capturing interesting places.
If you are visiting 118 Mall for the first time, make sure you explore the main atrium and look out for its architectural and visual features.
5. Shopping Brands and Retail Stores
Of course, shopping remains one of the main reasons to visit any mall.
118 Mall brings together international fashion labels, sports brands, lifestyle retailers, beauty products and Malaysian businesses.
Some of the brands associated with its retail offering include:
- Coach
- Decathlon
- Skechers
- ASICS
- Adidas
- UNIQLO
- Onitsuka Tiger
- Ray-Ban
- BookXcess
- Village Grocer
- SOGO118
- Best Denki
The selection is designed to serve different types of shoppers, from fashion and sports enthusiasts to families looking for everyday shopping options.
As more stores begin operations, visitors can expect the retail experience to become even more complete.
What Makes 118 Mall Different From Other Kuala Lumpur Shopping Malls?
Kuala Lumpur already has plenty of popular shopping destinations, including Pavilion KL, Suria KLCC, TRX Exchange and Mid Valley Megamall.
So what makes 118 Mall worth visiting?
For me, its biggest attraction is the overall setting.
First, the mall is directly connected to the identity of Menara Merdeka Maybank. Shopping beneath one of the world’s tallest buildings gives the destination a distinctive atmosphere.
Second, it brings Malaysian culture into the shopping experience through the Malaysian Artisan District.
Third, its architectural features, including The Atmosphere and Raincloud, add visual attractions beyond the usual shopping experience.
Finally, its location places visitors close to some of Kuala Lumpur’s important historical landmarks.
It is this combination of modern development, shopping, food and Malaysian heritage that gives 118 Mall its own identity.

Is 118 Mall Worth Visiting?
If you enjoy exploring new shopping destinations, modern architecture, food spots and interesting places around Kuala Lumpur, I would definitely recommend adding 118 Mall to your list.
It offers more than a traditional shopping experience.
You can explore Malaysian brands, discover new food outlets, admire the impressive glass dome, check out the Raincloud installation and enjoy the surrounding Merdeka 118 precinct.
It is also a great destination for photography, especially if you enjoy capturing Kuala Lumpur’s modern skyline and architectural landmarks.
Keep in mind that the mall opened with 158 operating stores, so some outlets may still be preparing to open. The full retail experience will continue to develop over time.
